Utilities
Homes in the City of Los Angeles are served by LADWP; many surrounding cities are served by Southern California Edison. Solar and rate rules differ, so we design to your utility.
Energy code
California’s Title 24 energy code applies to new HVAC equipment and, in some climate zones, to re-roofs.
Outages
Some areas served by Southern California Edison can see power shutoffs during high fire-risk conditions — a common reason for battery backup.
Permits
Within city limits, permits are issued by the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS). We handle the application and inspections.

Los Angeles homeowner questions
Does my utility change how solar works for me in Los Angeles?
Yes. LADWP and Southern California Edison have different rules for crediting the solar power you send back to the grid, which affects system size and whether a battery makes sense.
